Bisabolol

BISABOLOL

Chamomile's calming molecule, isolated — one of the better-supported botanical soothers.

Why it works

Alpha-bisabolol inhibits inflammatory signaling (NF-κB pathway) and shows anti-irritant effects in human patch models. It also enhances penetration of other ingredients, which cuts both ways: soothing partner, occasional sensitizer-carrier.

mostly agree

Human studies show reduced UV- and chemical-induced irritation with bisabolol, but trials on clinically red or rosacea-prone skin are scarce. A sensible pick in a soothing routine; not a treatment.

Safety, without the fear

Anchored to regulatory assessments — not hazard lists. Dose makes the poison; these are the conclusions at real-world cosmetic use.

CIR · Cosmetic Ingredient Review

CIR reviewed bisabolol as safe in current practices of use and concentration.
